Quaker Road School Calendar for Families

Days of Significance Calendar

Greetings Quaker Road Families,

Another fantastic week is in the books, and we have plenty of great moments to celebrate!

Thank you to everyone who made our Take Me Outside Day on Wednesday such a wonderful success! Our students thoroughly enjoyed taking their learning outdoors, and we would like to extend a special thank you to our Student Leadership Team for their hard work and involvement with many classes throughout the day.

Looking ahead to this week, a reminder that there is a Professional Development Day for staff on Monday, meaning there will be no school for students on this day.

On Tuesday, we will be hosting our 2nd Parent Council meeting of the school year from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the library. All parents and guardians are welcome to join us!

Also happening this week, our Grade 1 and 2 classes are excited to head to "The Great Pumpkin Patch" at Bry-Anne Farms this Thursday! Thank you to our teachers for organizing this experience for their students.

To wrap up the week on Friday, students are invited to celebrate Halloween at school. Please see the additional information below regarding guidelines and details for the day.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to another great week ahead!

From Niagara Region Public Health - Checking Immunization Records:

We know life gets busy, and reporting your child’s vaccinations to Public Health can be easy to overlook.

This fall, Niagara Region Public Health is reviewing immunization records for students attending school in Niagara. Watch our video to learn about annual student immunization record review.

Many students are up to date with their vaccines, but Public Health may not have a complete immunization record on file. Immunization information or a valid exemption must be provided to Public Health. Health care providers, schools and child care centres do not report immunization information to Public Health for you.

Why you may receive a notice

You or your 16- to 17-year-old child may receive a notice in the coming weeks if Public Health needs more information about immunizations. This does not necessarily mean vaccine(s) are missing. Public Health may be missing immunization records or need more details about the vaccines already received.

What you can do now

Parents / guardians of children four to 15 years of age can do the following. If your child is 16 to 17 years of age, ask them to do it themselves:

o Compare the record in ICON with the yellow immunization card or other vaccination records. Report any vaccinations that have been received and are missing from the record in ICON.

  • If vaccines are needed, or you are unsure, contact your healthcare provider.

COVID-19 and influenza (flu) vaccines do not need to be reported to Public Health.
