Our Comets Soar!

Quaker Road is an exciting place to work and learn. We have many exciting learning opportunities, events, and activities for the students and community here at Quaker Road School. We are looking forward to continued opportunities to work with our students and the community.  A focus for our students is building their developmental assets through curricular and extra-curricular activities. We believe organizations such as our Eco-Green Team, Student Colour Groups, Student Parliament/Spirit Committee, and our Reading Buddies program present our students with opportunities to develop leadership, a sense of social justice and strong friendships. Other Extra-curricular opportunities that also support student character development and engagement include primary and senior choirs, intramural sports for all ages, Forest of Reading club, x-country running club and interschool sports such as volleyball, basketball, baseball, badminton, cross country and track and field. We also pride ourselves in community events such as our Family Fun Nights, Family Movie Nights, and our Annual Family Fun Fair.

Our School has a strong tradition of parental support. We have a School Council. Our School Council is an advisory body to the administration and the school board and has provided leadership relating to programs and events offered at the school level. The School Council also fundraises for the school to raise money for the Arts, Phys-ed, Technology, Playground equipment, and curriculum support. Our volunteers are also an integral part of life here at Quaker Road. Our superb Breakfast Program is made possible due to the efforts of an outstanding team of volunteers. On average we have between 80 and 100 students participating in the Breakfast program daily. Many volunteers also help out in the classrooms, with sporting activities, special events, and with school improvement projects.

You will find here at Quaker a very dedicated and committed group of teachers, educational assistants, custodians, support staff and volunteers.  Quaker is definitely a busy place and many people are actively involved in making sure all students have great opportunities to learn, develop, and to have fun.
