Community Partnerships
Quaker Road Public School recognizes the importance of a positive ongoing relationship with our community: neighbours, whether they be our next door neighbours, local businesses or social service clubs and agencies. We thank our partners for their support.
The NTEC Eco Gardens in Allanburg has provided Quaker Road with outstanding native perennials. If you are buying plants from the Eco Gardens, please make sure that you mention that you are from the Quaker Road community and our school Green Team will receive 5% of your purchase.
Sassafras Farms
Sassafras Farms has been instrumental in the implementation of our green space in our yard. If you haven't seen it yet be sure to take a peek. There have been hummingbirds spotted admiring the plants!! Sassafras Farms has not only donated native seeds and plants, but they have helped maintain the space over the summer. (270 Humberstone Road, Welland 905-658-8907)
Plant’s Choice
Plant’s Choice in Welland has generously donated soil, mulch and native perennials for our school’s Greening program.
The Quaker Road Green Team has received a generous grant from the St. Catharines Metro grocery store, as part of their Green Apple program.
The Quaker Road Green Team has received a generous grant from the TD Friends of the Environment program.
Quaker Road School has been fortunate to be involved with the Niagara Ice Dogs. Players will be visiting our school in November before our Quaker Road Night at the game. In the 2008/2009 school year our Grade 7/8 Choir sang O Canada at the beginning of a game, but this year we will be enjoying a pre game skate. The Niagara Ice Dogs have adopted Quaker Road as their school and have donated 2 seasons tickets to us. At each game a Quaker Road student and parent enjoy a night out watching a good game of hockey. Thank you Ice Dogs! Go Dogs Go!
Thanks to the Sobeys on South Pelham Road our Breakfast Program is up and running successfully. Sobeys has donated to us breakfast foods to offer our students (milk, yoghurt, juice, fresh fruit etc).
The Niagara Regional Health Department
Our School Nurse makes the school aware of the many activities sponsored by the Health Department. One of the activities we participate in yearly is the Heart Healthy (http://www.healthylivingniagara.com/) which means we promote healthy eating, regular exercise and non smoking to our students.
Quaker Road Students will be enjoying performances and workshops by Carousel Players throughout the school year.
